Now, in the Season of Death, it's only natural that our thoughts wander to our own mortality. Being witches & wizards, we don't believe in ghost, but know they exist from personal experience. You can even go as far as dividing said-experiences into 'Kinds', like UFO encounters (but that remains for another post).
Simply said: "If ghosts exist, then there is a 'here-after', right"?
There are too many hypotheses to say for certain.
We should cover a few.
#1) "The 'You're Bat-$#!+ Crazy' Theory"
One must keep this in mind, at all times, when dealing with the metaphysical. If you don't question your sanity, you probably haven't got any.
#2) "Whole-Entity Theory"
This works under the precept that any & all ghosts are the whole being. They're just people with the skin-suit stripped-off. "The Whole Enchilada, minus the tortilla".
#3) "Layered-Onion Theory"
The aura distinguishes it's-self into three (or, if Buddhist, Seven) different layers. If this is the case, separate layers, alone or in combination, could have the obligatory "Unfinished Business".
#4) "Emotional Imprint Theory"
This school of thought perceives a haunting as residue; emotions & actions recorded on a locale by strong or repeated events.
I've seen evidence to support most of these (if not all), and would be hard-pressed to name any as dead-cert. This would lead one to find a theory to cover them all, or at least a simple term-set to distinguish between them. Perhaps I'll get to it later, when there's time (he said, words dripping with sarcasm).
You should keep these views in mind, while examining your own image of after-livelihood. Are you going to be a whole ghost, a fragment of energy patterns, or simply an emotional stain on the walls of the place you died?
What do you believe?
Are you Sure?
Maybe you should do some research, perform some field tests, and compile some hypothesis that includes your data.
You really should have some idea of where you're headed in this life.
Death: "Everybody's Doing It" (...whether they want to or not).
